ARRAO Steps to Overcome Learning Obstacles

• Acknowledge: there is difficulty in learning.

• Recognize: Isolate the variable(s) causing difficulty. Build a Plan of Action to help you.

• Reassure: “Let’s tackle this together.” Everyone has trouble with something, it’s no big deal! Tackle it together to build confidence.

• Adapt: Understand that the current method of teaching needs to be changed, altered or enhanced. This may take multiple tries to find something that works for your learner.

• Overcome: Let’s build some confidence! Once you’ve found a method that works for your learner, implement this learning strategy in other areas. Help build understanding with your learner how to use their special adaptation so they may apply this strategy to  overcome other learning obstacles they may encounter.
